Capital of Catalunya, Barcelona is the second most important Spanish and European city in the Mediterranean area.

Located by the sea and near the Pyrenees.

Spanish and Catalan are the two official languages, but as it happens in all big cosmopolitan cities you can easily hear and talk languages from all over the world.

Mediterraneo School is located in Barcelona city centre and close to: the Las Ramblas, one of the most known places in the world, a long walk that offers a great variety of bars, restaurants, flowers and newspapers shops, and other amusing entertainments such as street actors; the colourful Boqueria Market, and the Big Liceo Theatre, Plaza Real, the old port and Christopher Colombo statue, the Cathedral, the big San Jaume Square hosting the city hall of Barcelona and Catalunya government head office, the Santa Maria del Mar Church, the Museo Picasso, the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona (MACBA), the Contemporary Culture Centre of Barcelona (CCCB) and the tiny and lively streets of the Gothic Neighbourhood, the Raval sand the Borne.

Places of interest

Everybody knows Barcelona as the capital of Modernism. ). Antonio Gaudi is the most famous architect: the Sacred Family, and the Güell Parc, the Milà House known as well as the Pedrera and the Batlló House. Other famous Modernista masterpieces are San Pablo Hospital and the Catalan Music Palace.

Besides the Park Güell, which is the most known park, you can visit the Ciutadella Park and the Montjuich Park, with its Joan Miró Foundation, the Catalunya National Museum of Arts (MNAC), and the CaixaFòrum.
